چکیده
Dual-polarization (DP) interferometric fiber optic gyroscope (IFOG) has been studied for over a decade, which important applications in inertial navigation and rotational seismology. Currently, the Shupe effect is an factor degrading accuracy of DP IFOG. Here, dual-quadrupolar winding pattern proposed to compensate effect. The finite-element simulation experiments verify that phase shifts induced by two polarizations are almost reversed well compensated. Static laboratory test results show that, this configuration, angle random walk reduced 10-fold 7.1×10−5 °/h, while bias instability ninefold 1.7×10−4 °/h. Moreover, 3-h temperature variation experiment carried out. compared with original output, net rotation rate errors originating from effectively compensated drift 13 times. To summarize, dual-quadrupolar-wound method valid approach effect, adaptability configuration greatly enhanced.

This paper describes the development of Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) for Space applications at LEOS. The sensor has all solid-state optical devices for the precise measurements of mechanical rotation. The basic phenomenon underlying optical rotation sensing is known as the Sagnac effect. In the Sagnac effect two identical light beams traveling in opposite directions around a closed loop path exp...
متن کاملInterferometric Fiber Optic Sensors
Fiber optic interferometers to sense various physical parameters including temperature, strain, pressure, and refractive index have been widely investigated. They can be categorized into four types: Fabry-Perot, Mach-Zehnder, Michelson, and Sagnac. In this paper, each type of interferometric sensor is reviewed in terms of operating principles, fabrication methods, and application fields. Some s...

Fiber optic interferometry can be broadly explained as the techniques that utilize the fundamental principles of optical interference to measure physical sample properties or detect changes via sensing systems that are partially or completely realized using fiber optic components. While the field of optical interference dates back to second half of seventeenth century, the advent of fiber optic...

An open-loop, all-fiber-optic gyroscope with wide dynamic range and linear scale factor is described. This novel approach converts the Sagnac phase shift into a phase shift in a low-frequency electronic signal by using optical phase modulation followed by amplitude modulation verify the theoretical predictions.
